Scope of Experience

Elizabeth “Betty” Gardiner is NAI Global’s Senior Legal Assistant and responsible for preparing and managing membership agreements with NAI offices worldwide. She also collaborates with outside legal counsel to manage the registrations and protection of service trademarks (the NAI Global logo and brand) and website domain names associated with member firms. Betty prepares the sponsorship agreements when a Leadership Summit and Annual Convention sponsor or exhibitor is obtained by the Partnership Developments Director.

Once a new member commits to becoming a NAI Global office, Betty prepares the legal paperwork and follows it through until the agreement is ratified by both parties. Her job also entails tracking and managing contract renewal dates, often a year before a current term is scheduled for renewal, at which time she prepares a statistical summary of the provisions of the member’s agreement. The data points typically include territory, population within that territory and related details. In conjunction with company President and CEO, Betty negotiates renewal terms and conditions with member firms as well as terms and conditions with potential new member firms.

The greatest value Betty adds to NAI Global is an institutional knowledge of the firm, its business model, best practices and the members she has worked with for many years.

Betty is an avid opera devotee, Member of the Metropolitan Opera Guild and maintains a subscription at The Met. She has attended many opera performances including at many major opera houses throughout Europe.

She started legal work in commercial real estate when she joined a regional company in 1988 that developed, owned and operated shopping centers; she negotiated and managed lease agreements, among other duties.
